The European Broadcasting Union EBU is looking for a Commercial Director, Eurovision Song Contest.

ABOUT THE EBU Eurovision Song Contest Unit
The Eurovision Song Contest exists to show that we are united by music. It is the world’s largest live music event with 37 broadcasters taking part in 2024 watched by 170 million people across the globe. 26% of our grand final broadcast audience is under 35.

In 2024 content on our TikTok and Instagram channels collectively reached 555 million accounts, with videos on our YouTube channel seen by 42 million unique viewers across 231 countries. Hosting the competition brings tourists and employment with recent host cities reporting significant economic benefit.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
Such unprecedented success offers limitless opportunities to grow as a global brand and increase activities and revenues to support the competition and our members. We are seeking an experienced Commercial Director from the brand/entertainment/sport industry to help us grow, create new products, reach wider audiences and increase and diversify our revenues. Helping us to ensure an even brighter future for the contest and public service broadcasting across our membership.

As the Commercial Director, you will
Develop and implement the Commercial Strategy which result in exceeding revenue targets through digital platforms, sponsorship, retail and new live and digital products globally.
Drive commercial process to increase revenue across all current and new revenue streams
Cultivate and develop relationships with key stakeholders (agencies, partners, brands, members and other third parties)
Track revenue forecasting that marks progress to quarterly and annual goals
Monitor and review broadcast and live trends, adapt plans and shape strategies accordingly.
Lead negotiations with potential partners and manage our agencies and contracts
Responsible for driving new business and growing existing revenue through long term contracts as well as contract negotiation.
Lead rights, format and revenue negotiations on new editions globally and new live and digital activities.
Take a varied approach to developing partnerships and set new standards for excellence in both negotiation and delivery of contractual agreements.
Work with relevant team members/agencies to define and price sponsorship packages and ensure brand and communications alignment.
Work with Business Operations team to keep targets on track and ensure budget/targets/sales processes are regularly reported
Pro-active involvement in all digital and social media initiatives to increase the ROI through effective and targeted marketing and data analytics.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
5+ to 10 years minimum in Entertainment/brand/sport live broadcast event commercial activities
Clear understanding of the multi-media ecosystem, particularly digital platforms
Direct client and agency contacts/relationships a plus
Deep agency relationships and contacts
Experience in delivering across the commercial spectrum, from strategy to sales
A successful track record with documented proof of creative approach to growth
Proven track record managing and achieving aggressive growth goals.
Demonstrable success of finding and building new areas of revenue generation.
Proven track record of delivering world class commercial and marketing partnerships.
Entrepreneurial, with a bias towards action and a collaborative nature.
Strong writing, presentation and oral communication skills, strategic planning, organization, business development
Strong relationship building ability including sustaining long-term customer relationships. ·
Decisive and able to make tough decisions under pressure.
Creative and strategic thinker, able to provide effective solutions for the business and for our members and partners.
Solid technical understanding of the digital landscape
Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills.
Tons of energy, passion, humor and enthusiasm.
Team player
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Being a fan of Eurovision Song Contest is not a must – understanding its success, values, audiences and future is.

Bachelor’s Degree: desired not required
