Job title: Data & Business Intelligence Technician

Reporting to: Director of Technology and Digital Strategy

JOB PURPOSE
The Data & Business Intelligence Technician plays a key technical role in implementing the Aiglon 2025–2027 IT Roadmap, specifically in unlocking the school’s data for improved decision-making, automation, and efficiency. This hands-on position involves developing integrations, building dashboards, managing APIs, and enabling access to real-time data. The role ensures that data becomes a secure, valuable, and accessible asset across academic, operational, and support functions. The insights and systems built in this role will directly support student success, resource planning, and strategic decision-making.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
Work with the Cloud technician to connect and integrate core school systems to create a unified data environment.
Design and implement real-time dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
Develop automation tools and scripts to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency.
Support the secure and ethical use of data and AI technologies.
Provide technical assistance and training in the use of business intelligence tools across all areas of the school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Infrastructure & Integration
Build and maintain ETL pipelines across systems such as iSAMS, iFinance, and Roger HR.
Working with the Cloud Technician develop and manage secure API connections to support cross-platform automation.
Structure and clean data for analytics and reporting use cases.
Business Intelligence & Dashboards
Develop and maintain interactive dashboards using Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI and/or Looker Studio.
Collaborate with departments to define data needs and visualise key performance metrics.
Ensure accuracy and integrity in all reporting outputs.

Automation & Scripting
Write and maintain scripts (e.g. Python, SQL and other relevant programming languages) to automate workflows and repetitive tasks.
Implement scheduled jobs and alerting for critical data processes.
Support smart building integrations through scripting and automation.

Data Governance & Security
Assist in implementing data privacy, retention, and governance policies.
Work to ensure GDPR compliance and alignment with ISO 27001 practices.
Support audit processes and data documentation.

Technical Support & Collaboration
Provide support for BI tools and data-related queries across departments.
Train staff in dashboard use and data literacy where appropriate.
Collaborate closely with the wider IT team to ensure alignment on systemsinfrastructure and support priorities.
Document processes and maintain internal knowledge bases for data systems.

OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain confidentiality in all work.
Undertake any tasks reasonably required by the Director of Technology to support the department and strategic initiatives.
Participate in relevant professional development to stay current with tools and trends.
Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding children and young people.
Understand the School’s Guiding Principles and uphold the ethos of the School at all times.
