Are you a passionate, entrepreneurially minded analyst with strong analytical skills and deep interest in the energy transition, climate risks and opportunities, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics?

Based in Geneva, as part of a global team, your role as ESG Analyst will include the following duties:

Energy Transition and GHG emissions (50%)
Manage the annual GHG (greenhouse gas) footprint calculation process with our Energy transition manager
Work with Vitol departments, IT & investments to improve data capture processes (e.g. development of new functionality, performance enhancements) and meet audit recommendation
Collect and verify data, perform GHG-related calculations (e.g. shipping, processing operations), and document policies, methodologies, controls and restatements
Analyse carbon data across businesses that are part of Vitol investment portfolio
Contribute to Vitol energy transition strategy and to the implementation of our transition plan for climate change mitigation, as well as to meeting regulatory and stakeholder requirements

Climate-related regulations and risk management (25%)

Provide regulatory and analytical support to identify, prioritise, and manage climate-related risks and opportunities to Vitol and our assets
Work with our Energy transition manager in meeting relevant ESG legal requirements, advise on and manage projects more broadly on climate-related topics, e.g. TCFD roadmap, water management, biodiversity
Analyse KPI and climate change data across businesses in which Vitol is invested, research and benchmark, make recommendations to senior leadership, then execute on planning and implementation

ESG analyses, reporting and recommendations (25%)
Prepare and deliver ESG presentations to internal and external stakeholders
Contribute to the annual ESG report, Board and ESG Committee reporting
Lead ad hoc ESG projects (e.g. environmental due diligence, human rights risks in supply chains)
Answer ESG questions from the business (e.g. trading, investment)

Qualifications
2-4 years’ experience in an analytical role, e.g., management consulting, finance, data analytics
University degree in a relevant subject, e.g., Engineering, Economics, Sustainability, Public Policy
Analytical mind with excellent attention to detail, and exceptional quantitative and Excel modelling skills
Entrepreneurial drive, willingness to take proactive ownership of projects and results
Outstanding problem-solving skills, able to find pragmatic solutions independently as well as in a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to convey complex concepts in simple terms
Full proficiency communicating in English in a business context (verbally and in writing)

Additional Information
Some knowledge of GHG accounting methodologies, ESG reporting standards and regulations
Previous experience in commodities, trading and/or energy industries
