Job Summary:
As a Junior Payroll Analyst for Mercuria Energy Trading, your primary role will be to assist in the collection, preparation, and provision of payroll information to our payroll team; focusing on finding ways to automate and optimize the process. You will work to ensure accuracy and confidentiality in all payroll data, while also providing exceptional payroll services and support. Your advanced analytics and data science skills will be relevant to enhance our processes and act as an agent of change.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist the payroll team with the timely collection and preparation of payroll variables on a monthly basis.
Verify the accuracy of payroll information by collecting, computing, and entering data into the payroll system.
Assist in preparing payroll reports for audits and management review.
Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers.
Respond to payroll queries by providing required information timely and accurately, while maintaining the confidentiality of payroll operations.
Liaise with human resources for new hires, terminations, and benefits updates.
Participate in relevant projects that require cross-departmental collaboration when required.
Utilize advanced analytics and numeric skills to improve payroll processes.
Apply business analysis capabilities to identify and implement process automation.
Engage in data science and coding tasks to support payroll and broader business functions.

Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in a numerical field of studies;
Minimum 2 years of experience in a function where you are responsible for collecting variables, reconciling and analyzing data;
Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, with advanced analytics skills.
Proficiency in French and English. Additional language skills would be a plus.
Tech-savvy with a strong interest in data science and coding.
Strong drive for process enhancements and automation.
