About the Project
Edmond de Rothschild Systemic Regeneration is an innovative initiative at the intersection of systemic thinking, philanthropic & investment activities, and the regenerative economy.
We aim to create a Systemic Program in which we would develop a set of transformative solutions to address key blockers in the scaling of a Regenerative Economy, whith systemic thinking converge.
Edmond de Rothschild Systemic Regeneration will first focus on Regenerative Agriculture in France in with limited resources (MVP phase), before expanding the systemic approach to other areas of Regeneration with extended resources (Scale-up phase), and finally to cover the whole expertise of Regeneration with a financial product to be distributed externally (Product phase).

Position Overview
As a first employee and part of our core team, the Science & Research Manager will play a critical role in:
shaping the project,
structuring its processes,
coordinating its essential core data architecture,
managing the research activity,
actively build a solid Knowledge Base, in particular around regenerative practices,
designing a proprietary impact measurement methodology “Regenerative Impact Potential”,
fostering external collaborations in the academic and scientific world, and expanding our influence within
Europe and beyond.

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD-level researcher in biological and/or physical sciences, who is passionate about interdisciplinary work and systemic thinking, with a unique blend of academic rigor, technical proficiency and social aptitudes to help lead research efforts. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, agile, small-team environment.

Key Responsibilities
1. Research and Development
Conduct advanced research in systems mapping and identification relevant to project goals and to the
definition our systemic intervention.
Stay current with emerging scientific findings and methodologies to ensure cutting-edge research
practices.
Contribute to EdR SR scientific positioning and communication strategy with the publication of regular
white papers on dedicated topics.
Actively build a Knowledge base of scientific regenerative practices.

  1. Data Infrastructure Development
    Coordinate the design and the implementation of a robust data infrastructure to support research
    workflows, in coordination with a selected advisory firm.
    Supervise the scaling of such and implemented.
    Work collaboratively to integrate data systems with ongoing research and external datasets.
    Engage with AI and ML models to help feed the infrastructure and our model structure (see below) and
    keep them up to date.

  2. Impact Measurement Methodology
    Contribute to aggregate current impact measurement methodologies and certifications.
    Establish a proprietary methodology integrating regenerative considerations: Regenerative Potential
    Index.
    Use this framework horizontally to qualify all EdR SR data sets.
    Support the investment team in the scientific & technical part of the analysis.

  3. Business Development Support
    Supervise academic partnerships and nurture relationships.
    Contribute to identifying strategic business opportunities and partnerships.
    Support initial networking and business development activities to expand project reach.

  4. Collaboration and Networking
    Engage with a diverse network of external partners, research institutes, academic institutions, and
    collaborators to drive the project forward.
    Represent the project in conferences, workshops, and networking events.

Professional Skills
1. Research Expertise
Proven background in biological/chemical/physical systems research, demonstrated by publications,
projects, or equivalent experience.
PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, or a related field.

  1. Technical Proficiency:
    Ability to code and develop data infrastructure (experience with languages such as Python, R, SQL,
    etc.).
    Familiarity with data management tools, IA/ML tools and databases, used in biological research.

3.Collaboration and Leadership:
Experience working in small teams with an ability to lead and motivate.
Proven ability to coordinate large-scale collaborations or interdisciplinary projects.
At least one professional experience in Switzerland.

4.Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French, English, Spanish and Arabic.
Other languages are a plus.
Ability to convey complex scientific ideas to non-specialists and external partners.

Location: Ideally Geneva / Flexible with potential for international travel.
