Trading Manager

Role information
Procure tonnage from the open market at the most competitive rates and terms consistent with the Group Safety and Compliance standards
Create and grow a profitable wet freight desk with a wide mandate to trade across markets
Establish a close and strong working relationship with the Commodity Trading desks within the Group
Provide regular, timely and accurate freight assessments to the Trading desks with a strong understanding of speed to market when rating requirements around Tenders and Arbitrage movements
Analysis of market competitors and other relevant market players to help the company formulate future commercial plans and strategies
Strong focus on driving P & L through creative and efficient trading solutions
Strong understanding of exposure management when operating a fleet consisting of Owned and Time Chartered tonnage
Good understanding of derivatives markets
Liaise with other groups in particular Risk Control, Compliance & Credit, Back Office
Good knowledge around Charter Parties including Time Charters and Spot Charters
Good understanding of Sale & Purchase agreements
Establishing good relationships with all appropriate functions such as: Ship Owners, Charterers & Brokers etc.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Shipping, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or any other related field
Preferred further qualification related to Shipping
Minimum 10 years’ experience within a shipping environment
5 years minimum Seafarer experience
Strong operational know-how and end to end understanding of the freight world
Self-motivated and driven to add value into a strong performing team
Strong team player with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues across the wider business and in other locations
